Paul Ritch
In 2007, Paul Ritch has probably been the most talked about new electronic musician. His first release came at the end of 2006, and the rest have happened this year. And it’s no small job: his name is already printed in Resopal, Get Physical, Minisketch, and Kickboxer (as Handycraft, project shared with his friend Okain) and Paradigma Musik 12” sleeves. He’s not a lucky guy; what puts him ahead of the rest is the strong personality his work reveals. Paul Ritch has put the groove back into minimal. His works, praised by the likes of Richie Hawtin and Anja Schneider, find the perfect balance between techno’s mathematical squareness and the organic soft feel of Latin music and funk, as it used to be back in Detroit, when Atkins May and Saunderson fused for the first time Kraftwerk’s robotic melodies with their own ancestor’s soul.
